The Magic of Symbols + December Calendar of Magical Events
A month for exploring the gateways beneath everyday life—discovering symbols as living thresholds into memory... meaning... and the Unseen world...
Symbols are gateways into the Unseen.
They’re often ancient… rife with meaning… layered with power… but small enough to carry in a pocket or wear against the skin. They travel down through the ages, arriving to us intact but unknown, ill-understood.
Distilling energy into tiny, potent packages, symbols often bypass the intellect entirely.
You see one and your body quietly reacts.
Attempting to explain them in words fails to capture the multi-dimensional reality of the magic at play.
A spiral carved into stone.
A five-pointed star.
A knot with no beginning or end.
These are symbols that exist because words were not enough.
You don’t need to know the history to feel the magic.
Symbols are older than language… older than religion… older, even, than memory.
They live beneath culture—in bone, instinct, and the animal knowing of the body. We meet them the same way we meet lightning or ocean waves… with a quiet recognition we can’t logically explain.
Symbols are not ideas. Symbols are doors.
When we touch one with awareness, something shifts. A whisper of memory and belonging stretches out to us from across the ages. When we find a symbol that speaks to us, sparks fly and a quiet reawakening begins.
We have become desensitized to the power of symbols—taught to turn Mystery into meaning… taught to dissect and analyze until linear intellect can contain the experience.
But what the human mind can understand is all ways smaller than reality.
This month, we’re walking with Symbols...
We’re playing in ancient remembering and exploring the Magic available when we venture out beyond language.
As the year thins toward a close (and Janus—god of doors and gateways stands silently beckoning), we find ourselves in a season saturated with symbols—glowing quietly all around us, whether we’re paying attention or not.
We hang stars in our windows.
We bring evergreen into the house.
We wrap offerings in paper and ribbon.
We sing old songs we didn’t write and barely think about.
Instead of dissecting these symbols like museum pieces, I invite you to join me in engaging them as living transmissions—alive, responsive, imbued with ages of Wisdom.
Because beneath the surface of these gestures lies something ancient—older than Christian tradition… older than Rome… older than story as we know it.
Light returning in the deep dark.
Hope carried through winter.
The child, the seed, the spark.
Death that becomes Life again.
We participate in rituals that were once Magic, not metaphor.
A tree indoors was a spell—an invocation of life in the season of death.
A candle was not decor—it was protection, prayer, beacon.
The star was guidance, not ornament—a symbol of orientation when the night was long.
Our minds may have forgotten much of the old Magic…
but Symbols still speak to our bodies and souls.
Nothing is forgotten—it’s all there, waiting to be rediscovered.
Something in us still softens at candlelight… still leans toward song in winter… still feels the tug of Magic beneath the surface.
This month, dear Heretics, we return to the living layer of these things.
Not to romanticize the holidays or tidy them into meaning—but to look beneath the tinsel and tradition and feel for the old pulse that runs underneath.
We’ll explore symbols as gateways into the Unseen—how they function, why they move us, how to work with them consciously instead of unconsciously.
How a shape can carry power…
How an object can hold memory…
How a ritual act—even a small one—can shift energy…
This is your invitation to become the observer… the student… the Initiate…
This is your season to notice what symbols already live in our lives—the ones we wear… the ones we keep close without knowing why… the ones that return in dreams and stories…
Let’s practice listening.
Let’s let them speak again.
Let’s let them teach us the layers of meaning and magic our culture has forgotten to See.
Because symbols don’t just represent meaning.
They transmit it.
And when we engage them with awareness, something opens—in us, and in the world.
December is a month of symbols…
Not just holyday symbols (though they’re everywhere), but the older, deeper ones humming beneath: light, seed, cycle, gift, return.
Right now. Right here. Today and all through December—
This is your invitation to walk slowly, to work with the signs that cross your Path, to feel the way meaning wants to touch you through matter.
Because even the smallest things can lead us to vast places.
I hope you’ll Choose to join me and the Heretics of the Inner Sanctum in a month of living Magic—where symbols become keys… rituals become embodied… and meaning returns to this ancient and holy season.
December Calendar of Magical Events
✨ Community Energy Magic — Symbols
Friday, December 12 @ 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 7pm European / 5am AEST (+1 Day)
In this session, we’ll work with Divine Light to clear the noise from your body and energy field, so your own knowing can rise.
When the body quiets, symbols speak—not as concepts to decipher but gateways to a deeper Truth. Instead of thinking about meaning, we’ll move toward the threshold of experience—noticing how symbols stirs sensation… memory… recognition in the subtle body. As we soften into awareness, listening with the nervous system, we let Presence reveal what’s been waiting.
Bring your breath, your body, and your willingness to explore. You may even leave with a symbol of your own… one that arrives like an old friend you didn’t realize you were missing.
💚 Love Money Practice Group
Tuesday, December 16 @ 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 7pm CET / 5am AEDT (+1 Day)
The holidays stir money stories—pressure… gifting… comparison… scarcity… overspending. And when the culture gets loud, we either go with the flow or brace to buck it.
The Love Money Practice Group is where we find ground to step out of those inherited patterns and into real relationship with Money. We’ll explore clean generosity, enoughness, and what it feels like to exchange from clarity rather than cultural programming. This is a place to reconnect with the energy beneath the surface and get the support you need to Practice in your life. Come co-create a space of breath, presence, and conversation with Money itself.
🌀 Heretic Happy Hour — Exploring Symbols
Wednesday, December 17 @ 5:30pm Pacific / 8:30pm Eastern / 12:30pm AEDT (+1 Day)
Bring your favorite brew for an hour of magical inspiration with kindred souls in a safe-to-be-yourself space. These conversations are not only powerful and thought-provoking—they open new spaces of Magic and possibility for all who participate.
This month we’re exploring symbols—what they are… how they work… why they matter… and how they move in our lives.
What makes a symbol potent instead of decorative?
How do certain shapes tug the body, trigger memory, or open the field?
Why do we carry some symbols for years before understanding them?
We’ll sit with our questions, feel into our personal relationships with symbols, and explore what happens when we follow them deeper rather than settling for surface meaning.
📕 Magical Book Club—The Chalice & the Blade
Gathering TBD—likely late January (we’ll schedule organically based on our reading pace)
Our next book will be The Chalice and the Blade by Riane Eisler—a foundational text for every modern mystic and required reading in the curriculum of remembering. This book gives language and evidence for something many of us have felt as truth but could never quite name: We did not always live inside dominator culture.
Eisler traces archaeological, mythic, and historical threads revealing that for most of human history, partnership—not domination—was our way of life. Rather than hierarchy, violence, and power-over, there is evidence for ancient cultures rooted in relationship, reciprocity, and life-centered values. Showing how patriarchal structures emerged through trauma and upheaval, Eisler reveals that they are not destiny, but inheritance… one we can choose to question.
This book is a key that helps us recognize what we’ve been calling “normal” as cultural conditioning, not human nature. It frames our violent and destructive ways of being as inherited, not inevitable. It opens a doorway into possibility—partnership instead of domination, mutual thriving instead of extraction, a future rooted in ancient memory rather than fear.
If you’ve ever sensed there is another way to be human—gentler, wiser, more magical—this book will feel like remembering.
We will likely meet at the end of January, but you are invited start reading now. This is a big, beautiful book with ideas that need time to work in you.
Substack has a culture of avoiding affiliate links because we appreciate our subscribers so much that we aren’t trying to squeeze extra money out of them. BUT affiliate links don’t cost the buyer any extra money! They simple re-route a percentage away from big business.
I only recommend curated magical content that raises consciousness, connects hearts, and helps you train your magic… AND some of the links in this post are affiliate links. Buying from one of these links won’t cost you any extra money, but it will take approximately 1-4% from Amazon and Mr. Bezos and give it to me. 🥳
(I really think more Substackers should be unapologetically doing this.)
