ANNOUNCEMENT: This month, I’m officially starting the much-whispered-about Heretic Reading Circle where every month we explore, discuss, and write about a magical book that expands sacred awareness, deepens connection with the natural world, and teaches real magic.

I want to talk about money.
I know… I know… we’re not supposed to talk about money. We’re supposed to pretend we don’t want it. Money can’t buy happiness. Right?
As children we’re taught not to want too much…
We’re taught that we can’t have everything we want…
We’re taught that wanting is the Path to greed.
But the reality is that WE DO LONG FOR PHYSICAL THINGS.
We are made of matter. We are physical creatures. And we were born to revel in the things of this world.
It looks different for each of us. For some, it’s as simple as a warm fire and good book… the simplicity of working the land… a hand to hold on dark nights. But many of us quietly long for more—a beautiful home… an elegant and comfortable car… a rockin’ body.
Most of all, we want the money to do what we really want to do with our lives.
As spiritual folks especially, we’re supposed to be nobler than wanting money. We’re supposed to go deep… discover who we really are… explore the places no one has thought to look.
But heaven forbid we look in the corner of our hearts that deeply WANTS things!
If you do go there and admit to yourself that you have desires… well, then it’s up to you to create them. Right? You visualize and picture what you want to make sure that you get it. And if you don’t get it, they’ll tell you you’re probably not doing it right, because—after all—the gurus created what they wanted.
OMG… seriously?! What a mess!
Our relationships with money are as complicated as the networks of planets, asteroids, black holes, and plasma forms hurdling through space all around us.
And we’re never going to untangle anything or learn a better way if we aren’t willing to talk about it.
Historically, we’ve been inculcated with the idea that money is somehow evil… that the collection of it (or even the desire for it) is bad.
Underneath that is the long memory of humanity seeking resources to live, and in some places and times finding that there were simply not enough.
This “not-enoughness” has permeated every aspect of our lives. Though we try to move past it, we find it tucked into cultural back-alleys and hidden in unexpected places, waiting to demoralize and petrify us.
It’s been especially useful for those in power to maintain poverty structures that keep people under their control.
The real joke is…
Modern humans are constantly pretending that we live in a closed system. From the scientific method to the forecast of ecological doom, we make-believe that we can account for all the variables. Nowhere is this more obvious than our current economic model, where we tell ourselves—despite all evidence—that there is a limited amount of money.
Imagine for a moment that you are abundantly wealthy. Is there a part of you who worries you shouldn’t have so much? That maybe you’re taking resources away from others? That you shouldn’t have everything you want but just enough to get by?
Be honest with yourself. Is there any part of you who feels guilty at the idea of having plenty?
If you don’t feel even a little guilty at the thought of this… congratulations! 🥳 I’d like to have a parade in your honor. You’re living in reality.
For the rest of us—those who are stuck in the lack model, it’s time to wake up and understand the reality all around us.
There’s Enough All Ready
Imagine this…
We live in a universe that’s constantly expanding.
On a planet filled with resources—finite, yes—but malleable.
Ideas are infinite.
The atoms in existence are beyond count, constantly re-organizing and re-arranging themselves into new forms.
The value of those forms is constantly changing, based on need and desire.
Value cannot be easily exchanged, so value is symbolically represented by the concept of money.
In an open system (which we’re in)…
Money is infinite.
You can argue with me all day long, and I will spend exactly zero time arguing back.
Instead I’m going to offer a simple fun-fact… then I will invite you to join me in a worldview that is not only freeing and powerful, but accurate and abundant.
FUN FACT: In 2019, I was hung up on the idea that if I made a lot of money I would be taking it away from others, so I did the math on how much money (physical + electronic currency) there was in the world and what share of that should be mine.
If wealth were evenly distributed to every human being on the planet… we’d each have approximately $11 million USD per person.
Even if money is finite (which it’s not)… I’ll bet you haven’t claimed your share yet.
This month’s Mystery, Magic & Mayhem sacred exploration is The Yearning Path: Awakening to What’s Calling You ✨
But what I’ve really noticed is that our relationship with money gets in the way of true yearning. Until we learn to operate with money in a way that is fundamentally expansive… worry, shame, fear, guilt, and stress will limit our magical lives as well.
A New Relationship with Money
We’ve been crippled by our culture of lack. Trained from birth to believe that in an ever-expanding universe, limitation is a fundamental law.
We’re raised in a world of not-enoughness. This myth, which spreads like a designer virus tailored to lower our expectations, limits our capacity to dream, threatens hope at every turn, and kills passion more quickly than mom walking in on you fooling around.
Everyone wants to talk about going into your shadow these days, but just as scary is exploring what you really want… and daring to imagine that you can have it.
So—where do we begin?
And how do we do it differently from what we’ve done in the past?
That’s where the Heretic Reading Circle comes in…
This month we’re exploring the phenomenal book:
Love Money, Money Loves You by Sarah McCrum
This mind-blowing book is literally a channeled conversation with the energy of Money itself. It offers an entirely new way of seeing our financial systems that is deeply resonant with both the physical and magical worlds we inhabit. It speaks to an entirely new relationship with the phenomenon we call money, and urges us into a whole new paradigm of magic.
While it incorporates some familiar ideas like visualization and generosity, the book explains them more thoroughly, offering a rare path forward. Though it may take time and practice to implement them, the exercises in this book are absolutely life-changing.
The beautiful part of it is that while we maunder on about the fact that “money can’t buy happiness,” this book is all about happiness! It teaches that money thrives in an environment of joy, pleasure, and inspiration, and at it’s base, is about creating the totality of the life you desire… not just making a few extra bucks.
Far beyond simply changing your financial fortune, these energies will open your heart, expand your creativity, enliven your purpose, and redefine what work means.
I highly recommend the audio book, read by the author herself who translates these energies with grace and aplomb.
At the end of the month, we’ll be hosting a magical book club gathering for the Inner Sanctum of Heretics.

Substack has a culture of avoiding affiliate links because we appreciate our subscribers so much that we aren’t trying to squeeze extra money out of them. BUT affiliate links don’t cost the buyer any extra money! They simple re-route a percentage away from big business.
I only recommend curated magical content that raises consciousness, connects hearts, and helps you train your magic… AND the links in this post are affiliate links. Buying from one of these links won’t cost you any extra money, but it will take approximately 1-4% from Amazon and Mr. Bezos and give it to me. 🥳
P.S. I really think more Substackers should be unapologetically doing this.
Money is just energy right?!? I mean these days it’s a made up digital number in a bank that I rarely hold in my hands. lol
I like to think that when I have the money, that it will be the abundance offered by others. Then I will get the opportunity to offer to others in need of abundance. Without me losing anything.
