Everyone’s gone eclipse crazy!
Even though this phenomenon happens somewhere in the world every year, right now—it seems like it’s all anyone can talk about.
Perhaps it’s because I’m just outside of the zone of totality, where the moon’s disc will perfectly cover the sun at at 3:25pm EDT.
It’s going to be 98% where I’m at, and just an hour and a half east of my house in the woods, it will be 100% TOTALITY.
People have been raving about this eclipse for weeks. Everyone I know bought special glasses. School was even cancelled because the children would be on the bus, unsupervised, with no one to keep them from staring at it.
Up until now, I haven’t felt excited. I’ve even been a little bit annoyed at the way people are making this stellar cosmic event into a show.
But now, sitting on the edge of it… I feel differently.
There’s a silence in the air.
There’s a stillness beneath everything.
There’s a sense of anticipation… as if the world is waiting for something.
One of my beloved teachers—Jules Heavens—recently pointed out in her newsletter how unbelievably lucky we are that our moon is the EXACT SIZE to perfectly obscure the sun. The odds of that are astronomical!
Whether by Divine creation or improbable coincidence, our world is perfectly designed to create beautiful, mythic experiences for we tiny humans.
As our Moon embarks on her journey to meet the Sun today, I invite you to take the time to feel into that experience.
And it doesn’t matter if you’re in the path of totality or clear on the other side of the planet. Wherever you are on Earth—the energy of eclipse is available to you.
Take the Time to Notice:
What does this ‘tween time feel like?
What does your body and energy feel like?
What does the Earth feel like as the Moon blocks the Sun?
What would it have been like for our ancestors to experience an eclipse?
Instead of going out to watch the eclipse today, I’m going out to feel it.
And I hope you’ll join me.
Leave a comment and let us know how the eclipse feels where you are!
Feeling my way through the darkness,
Allysha Lavino
P.S. I’ve got an amazing radio interview dropping tomorrow. Stay tuned for details!
For me, this really felt like a time of letting go. Before it began I felt called toward a space of doing Nothing. Once it began, the Earth seemed to pulse beneath my feet as if urging me toward something with no definite sense of what that was. Physically, I noticed a serious head activation from the very beginning of the eclipse--I even ended up with a pressure headache that slowly released once it was complete. What I found most interesting was that I could FEEL, extremely tangibly, the moment that we arrived at totality and especially the moment it was over. It was as if all the pressure that had been building up was released.
I was with my husband and daughter the whole time, so I wasn't able to spend the eclipse in mediation, which for me means that I have physical sensations without necessarily being able to derive much meaning from what I feel.
I'd love to hear what others may have noticed! I'll definitely be following up on this with people in my world for the rest of the week 😊
This has been an amazingly powerful time for me. I am experiencing deep patterns that I didn't even know existed. I can feel the power of this ancient event deep in my bones. The experience of death and rebirth are palpable. Thank you for opening the conversation.
